Playing at the Patch

It's officially fall, the air is cooler finally in the mornings and you can feel winter coming. It's also my favorite time of year; the harvest, gathering, and preparing for the next season. Watching the tress go into full bloom, literally singing with color. It important to slow down a bit and pay attention, be thankful and regroup. What a better time to plan a group give-back and get to have fun?!

Green Girl closed early on Thursday so that we could all just take a breath and do something together, not work related. Instead of shredding paper or sorting electronics, we all got to pick out pumpkins and play yesterday! It was important to do this because over the last couple of weeks, everyone went above and beyond in managing the extra workload during the City of Longmont's hard-to-recycle event. This event runs for over two weeks, picture hundreds of vehicles a day dropping HTR items off which allows the City residents to divert an extraordinary amount from the landfill (diversion numbers coming soon!) The dedication and teamwork made this event our most successful one to date, and I couldn't be prouder of each and every person on my team.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of visiting the Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Ranch in Longmont, Colorado, a family-run business that's been thriving for 33 years. They warmly welcomed our group and allowed us to take over their lovely community food and table area. We enjoyed pizza, veggie chips, delicious apple cider from the farm, and delightful cupcakes made by our own Danielle in Accounting/HR. (She even made GF cupcakes with little 'RIP' sprinkles and bats on top - so we could all partake, super thoughtful).

It's so important to stop and acknowledge our employees and remind them how vital they are to our company and our mission of helping people make greener decisions. The day was made even more special as everyone picked their own pumpkins and showcased their unique styles in decorating them. It was a joy to see the creativity and fun that emerged!

A huge thank you to the Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Ranch and to all the amazing employees at Green ♻️ Girl 💪 Recycling! Your hard work and passion truly make a difference.
